Kyrie Irving's Incredible Left Handed Running Floater Is One Of The Best Game Winners You'll Ever See
I'm sorry, what the hell did Kyrie Irving just pull off? 2.8 seconds on the clock, it felt like everyone in the world watching this game was expecting things to go to Luka Doncic given what he had just done the prior possession
but this is the whole point of the Mavs roster. They went all in on the Luka/Kyrie pairing for moments exactly like this. Late in a game, the Mavs are able to run multiple actions for either of their big time end of game players. If that means a Luka 30fter, no problem. If that means you get the ball to Kyrie and let him attack the midrange only to unleash a running left handed floater/running hook shot as the clock expires?
Apparently, that's no problem either.
I've seen a lot of game winners in my day, and that prayer by Kyrie has to be up there. It's not crazy to get Kyrie a shot at that moment, the fact that he made a game winner isn't all that crazy either. But that particular shot? In that moment with that type of defense right in Jokic's face like that? I don't care how you feel about the guy, that's a kick-ass game winner at home over the defending champs. Not to mention the fact that the Nuggets had just stormed all the way back and probably thought they stole the road win after Jamal Murray's late 3 to put them up 105-102 with under 30 seconds to go. The fact that the Mavs came back on back to back possessions with death blows like that was huge.
And let's face it, the Mavs need this win. Badly. They are fighting like hell to get out of the Play In, and after the Suns loss earlier in the day, this win now has them virtually tied with the Kings for the 6 seed. Getting out of the danger zone is still more than within reach, and wins like this could end up being the difference. Especially with how tough the Suns remaining schedule is.
I know this is obviously a college basketball day, but you pull off a game winner like that, you deserve the love. Great shot, great win.
